“We are really happy to have SuperNova in the championship” -Enzo Coloni
The british team will take part in the championship maiden season with two cars, adding the series organized by Coloni Motorsport to its commitments, besides GP2 and GP2 Asia.
So, after the DAMS entry, here is another confirmation that the best teams from the motorsport world are looking at Auto GP with a lot of interest. Also Supernova, indeed, has a sporting history full of success: the palmarés of the team directed by David Sears comprehends four F3000 titles (1995 Vincenzo Sospiri, 1997 Ricardo Zonta, 1998 Juan Pablo Montoya, 2002 Sébastien Bourdais) and an A1 GP title, clinched in the 06/07 season managing Team Germany, whose car was driven by Nico Hülkenberg.
Hülkenberg, who in 2010 will be one of the drivers of the Williams F.1 team, is the latest driver that arrives in Formula One after having raced with SuperNova: the list, apart from the already mentioned Bourdais, Montoya and Zonta, includes also Mark Webber.
Besides that, from 2005 the british team is among the top runners in the GP2 series with 7 race wins and 32 podium finishes, results that make it a benchmark in the single-seaters world. The SuperNova entry is a further step in the teams selection process, a process that will define the complete Auto GP grid within December.
Enzo Coloni: “We are really happy to have SuperNova in the championship. They believe in the Auto GP formula and in our project, and we are proud of having one of the most winning teams in the F3000 and GP2 history. Besides that, we think that the big news we announced in the last days can give a clear idea of the top quality racing we’ll see in 2010”.
David Sears: “We are really looking forward to a new challenge with Auto GP. We think that having won four F3000 championships with Lola products and a fifth championship with A1GP, we understand these cars and can provide a platform for drivers to learn with high powered machinery before graduating to GP2. Auto GP represents incredible value and includes an astounding prize fund of €1.2 million”.
